The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) was implemented by the Australian government to assist eligible people with a disability get access to resources and support, for example, assistive technology.  Assistive technology is equipment or devices, medical or otherwise, that will help you live comfortably,  safely, and as independently as possible, with your disability.  Our specialist teams at Rehabhire & Sales are experienced in healthcare, and they know the NDIS.  They can provide assistance with accessing assistive technologies through your NDIS plan.  If you require advice and assistance with your NDIS journey; we are here to help you where we can.

Rehabhire & Sales is a registered provider of assistive technology products and equipment for purchase or hire to NDIS participants.  We offer low risk AT products (products which are unlikely to cause harm in everyday life; are readily available; and are easy to set up and use safely without professional advice or expertise).  We also offer higher risk AT products which may include complex technologies, for example, power wheelchairs that require clinical/professional advice, setup, and sometimes training, for safe use.

The following criteria need to be met to be eligible to participate in the scheme.  The individual must:

  1. Be aged between 7 years and 65 years
  2. Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder
  3. Meet the disability requirements or the early intervention requirements

Who are we?

Rehabhire & Sales is a dedicated sales and hire business specialising in the supply and prescription of hospital, and complex rehabilitation equipment in the Greater Melbourne area and surrounding regions.

Product Specialists

Our product specialists are assistive technology experts and will work with your therapists to create an individually tailored plan that will enable you to live your best life, and ensure you get the equipment that will best suit your needs and requirements.  They will prepare a quote and an NDIS service agreement for purchase or for hire to be presented for NDIS approval.


Our dedicated NDIS team can liaise with you, your support coordinator, and your plan manager whether you are plan managed, agency managed, or self managed to assist you with accessing that equipment.  They are also able to request funding confirmation from your plan manager.

Equipment Trials

We can provide equipment trials for purchase with our product specialists at a location that best suits you.  We will travel to your home, aged care facility, or assisted living facility at a mutually convenient time and meet with you and your occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or other allied health professional to ensure you receive the best solution for your needs from our extensive handpicked range of equipment.

Alternatively, you are welcome to trial equipment with your therapist by appointment at our Port Melbourne showroom or our 24/7 showroom at Narre Warren.

Hire Equipment

We have an extensive range of assistive technology products available for hire with a two week minimum.  The NDIS may approve funding for hire equipment whilst you wait for your custom ordered equipment to be delivered, ensuring you are receiving the care you require without delay.

Equipment Installation and Training

Most equipment will be delivered by experienced members of our delivery team.  An appointment can be arranged for one of our product specialists to come to you to train you, your therapist, or your carer to use your new equipment if required.  Complex equipment will be delivered and installed by a product specialist.

Equipment Repair and Service

Your equipment will be collected, inspected, quoted, repaired, and delivered back to you in a timely manner by our experienced team.  If, for reasons beyond our control, your equipment cannot be repaired immediately, you may wish to take advantage of our hire option to ensure continuity of care.

Home Modifications

Our registered building company, Rehab Installation, operates to Australian Standards and best industry practice to provide a highly skilled and professional installation service.  They will work with you and your care team to provide NDIS approved modifications to make living in your own home as safe and comfortable as possible.  Please contact them to see how they can assist you with your home modifications.
